The game enjoyed by millions all over the world known as Horseshoes evolved from the Greek sport of the discus throw, where participants threw a discus at a stake. Players to poor to buy a discus would throw discarded horseshoes. The game of Horseshoes was introduced to America by Early English settlers. Union soldiers during the Civil War played Horseshoes using discarded mule shoes.

- 1914 … 1st Horseshoe organization formed.
- 1920 … Rules of the game adopted.
- 1930’s .. Todays rules adopted.
